Elon Musk Becomes Richest Person In The World

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is once again the richest person in the world following the recent rally from the Tesla stock.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has undergone a meteoric rise to stardom over the past 10 years in America and across the world. He has now cemented his climb even further after becoming the richest person in the world currently, with a net worth eclipsing $200 billion dollars.

Elon Musk is the third person ever to break the $200 billion mark after Tesla’s stock has surged tremendously in recent days. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos broke the $200 billion mark in August of 2020, and luxury clothing executive Bernard Arnault also reached the number for a short amount of time earlier this year. The Tesla stock has been rallying upwards for 4 months and is now near $800 per share. Elon Musk owns 73.5 million shares of Tesla, which is roughly one-fifth of the company. This rise for Tesla comes in unison with a drop in Amazon’s stock of 0.6%, which sunk Bezos’ net worth 1 billion dollars.

Musk has been the richest man in the world before, including this January after he rode another Tesla stock run. However, as of September 2021, Musk has reached his personal high point in terms of net worth. While Elon Musk has been seen as an influential tycoon for several years, his stardom rose significantly in 2020 as the Tesla stock saw a 720% increase from the beginning to the end of the year. This rise increased Musk’s network by just over $125 billion in one year, which took him eventually over Bezos this past January.

Bezos and Musk have developed a bit of a business rivalry as a result of their competing net worths, but also in their competing rocket companies. Bezos’ company Blue Origin recently filed a lawsuit against NASA regarding their $2.9 billion affiliations with Musk’s rocket company, SpaceX. It seems likely that these two will continue to rise financially given the trajectory of their ownerships, but for today, Elon Musk has overtaken Bezos as the richest person alive.
